American Legion Dewey Lowman Post 109

The American Legion Auxiliary is committed to Education!  Our Unit 109 Auxiliary offers an annual scholarship to a child or grandchild of a Dewey Lowman Family member.  The rules can be found below and the application may be downloaded.  

In addition to this Unit 109 scholarship, there are many other opportunities at the Department and National Level of the American Legion Auxiliary.

The Dewey Lowman American Legion Auxiliary is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for a $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship recipient must be a high school senior who is a child or grandchild of a paid member of the Dewey Lowman American Legion Family. The applicant should ideally be a Junior Member of Dewey Lowman Auxiliary Unit 109 or Post 109 Sons of the American Legion Squadron.

Applications for scholarship and must be submitted with all requested materials by April 6, 2020.   Completed applications must include:
 

  1. One letter of reference from a high school teacher, counselor, or administrator.
     
  2. A typed essay, double spaced, not to exceed 250 words that include:
     
    1. Applicant’s future goals.
       
    2. Applicant’s extracurricular activities and descriptions of services to school and Community.
       
  3. Copy of most recent high school transcript with grade point average.

The potential candidate may be required to attend an interview with the Education Chair/Committee. If selected, the recipient agrees to attend the award ceremony arranged by the American Legion Dewey Lowman Auxiliary Unit 109, tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2020.

Scholarship funds will be paid only to the college that the Applicant has committed to attending.

 

Completed applications must be received on or before April 6, 2020
